jack

hello-win surplus stock, a 10 sek pumpkin.

first scratch out the pattern you want on the pumpkin.

gut it out

then cut

this is jack, a chinese pumpkin.

jack's alive!

can see the shadows from the teeth

jack's burning!

jack looking cool in a warm beanie.

then instead of wasting the pumpkin, i decided to use the other side of it to carve something else. so after alot of struggling:

its a beach with two trees swaing in the bayu as the glowing sun sets behind the trailing waves, echoed by the cries of the gulls high in the sky above.

this is how it looks in normal light, just a pumpkin with some holes.not attactive. but with the candles, the fruit transforms into an art.

after a whole night of fun and art, its time to say goodbye to my new friend by the beach

the beach turned into pumpkin soup, with added onions and bay leaves

jack was fried, with prawns from the sea and eggs. isn't jack sweet?

Helsinki, Finland pt4

so after getting dinner, we went back to teh boat, you have to use your ticket to swipe through th gantry. no need to check passport.

walking along the gangway to the boat. theres another cruise line at another port. maybe next time can try that one.

we then went to the duty free shop an ddid a little spot of shopping.

bought this doughnut like texture thing that looks like a hand. in th middle of the palm inside the bun is some jam.

the lounge.

we then collected all our spare change and pooled it together. collected €7+ and we decided toplay the one arm bandit. to my surprise, we actually won something

5€ winning

10€ winning - jackpot

so we won in total 17€ from the hour of hitting the button and shouting at the machines like kids. proably it was quite entertaining to watch us holler about. we decided to use the money won to pay for dinner and the sweets we bought. so i had the task of dividing up the sweets in a nonbias fashion.

the next morning we woke up and found the boat arriving in stockholm.

the vies is just great. but its really cold to stand outside.

docking. happy to be back home but also sad that the hol was really short. we need a longer vacation next time.

workers mooring the boat.

Helsinki, Finland

took a weekend trip to Helsinki, Finland by boat from Stockholm. We left on friday evening and the boat took the night to reach Helsinki. Went by the cheapest liner, Viking Line. We got the cheapest tickets which is deck 2 which is even lower than the cars and lorries parked at level 3. and its below the sea level of the boat.

of course most of the time was not spent in the room but in the lounges around the boat. actually I thought there would be more entertainment, but maybe european boats are such.

one arm bandits

since there wsa nothing much to do, we went out to freeze ourselves in the 5C weather.

after that we went to the duty free shop and looked about then went back to the claustraphobic room to rest awhile before dinner. here i'm playing with a 2.2 meter long scarf.

buffet dinner whcih cost 350 sek and totally not worth it. its liek the worst buffet i've ever eaten in my life. there was lots of variety but everything was cold and didnt taste great. the fish was hard and the chicken too chewy. the rest were stuff straight out of a can.

groupie

probably the only redemption of this sorry dinner is the ice cream

then its back to the room and more hilarious joking about. here someone gets hungry and is thinking of having ladies fingers.

hope tomorrow will be less boring.
